Meet the Artist Cherie Monteferrante

Biography

Cherie Monteferrante was born in West Palm Beach, Florida and has also lived in Ohio and California, but she currently makes her home in Colorado. She entered into art at an early age when she was selected to be in a state art competition at the age of 10. She continued her art studies through High School and College where she earned a BA in Visual Art.

Cherie's style is distinctive with smooth shading strokes in juxtaposition to frenzied strokes capturing movement in every day events and buildings. Her medium of choice is acrylic since its' quick drying properties add to the layering and texture. "I enjoy acrylics because it makes me concentrate on the subject. There's no time to second guess placement of color or you start over."

Cherie's Italian-American heritage has been an important influence in her work. Her current works include scenes from all over Italy. "I always had a passion for the Renaissance and for the artists that came out of Italy. I always dreamed I was from their bloodline." Cherie treasured the time in Italy gathering images you see in her portfolio today.

Artist Statement

"I am an acrylic painter whose style conquers the challenge of smooth against texture capturing everyday life. A cross between Realism and Impressionism, my work is Representational. We take for granted moments in time, the streets we walk on and the landscapes of buildings; shadow versus color is all around. I capture the moments in time we cherished and give them back to you in dreams on canvas.
